Area-I, Inc. is a Metro-Atlanta-based company dedicated to the development of state-of-the-art unmanned aircraft systems designed for use by the United States Armed Forces. We specialize in the development of unmanned aircraft systems that eject from host platforms or modular launch systems. The Flight Sciences Manager is responsible for leading a team of flight sciences engineers who specialize in aerodynamics, GNC, flight dynamics, aircraft performance, and simulations in support of the development of Area-I UAS and related systems. The flight sciences team develops maintains, and uses in-house tools to predict and analyze vehicle and subsystem performance, develop models, and review flight test data. The team also directly supports vehicle design teams, flight operations, systems engineering, and other multi-disciplinary teams within Area-I.
The Flight Sciences Manager should have a passion for and a deep understanding of fundamental flight sciences. The role will require developing best practices for the team, ensuring the continued development and growth of the team members, and ensuring a standard of engineering excellence is maintained.
- 5+ years industry experience in a flight sciences position
- Minimum MS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related background
- Demonstrated use of CFD tools and results
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
